Welcome to Paramedic Blogs 2.0!

Wait, there was a 1.0??   Yes, technically, that is why Paramedic Blogs 2.0 has content but we never really did anything with it because we developed ScientificBlogging.com and that took off, and then we developed ScienceCodex.com and Kids Science Zone ... but I never forgot about this.

You see, I have always been fascinated by the adventures of firefighters and paramedics and medics.   What kid didn't want to be a fireman?   I was an Emergency!  television show junkie when I was young.

So I decided to make a place where anyone with a story to tell could do it and people who want to read about it could do it.    Why?   Setting up a blog in Wordpress or Blogger is easy but there are 170 million of them and it can be a lonely place for someone new.   Here, everyone is writing about the same topic and everyone here wants to read what you write, so the miracle of compounding says you should get all a bigger audience than you would individually.

So why name it Paramedic Blogs when there are 6 categories?   Simply, it was the name that was available and we wanted it to be something intuitive and easy to remember.  Everyone knows what a paramedic does and everyone knows what a blog is.

Are there rules?  Sure, we put some serious effort into this and we want people to take it seriously, even though it is supposed to be fun.   So blogs that are just advertising or links to other sites and are going to be deleted.   Otherwise, have at it.

It's your community, not mine, and I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

By all means, find ways to break it, and if there are features you want to see, let us know.  If they are reasonable we can give it a try, but we are not some media conglomerate, we are just two people who thought this would be interesting to read.

Some features are not enabled yet because we want to control the number of things that can go wrong - when this comes out of beta it will have a friends list so you can see when people you like have added new content and the toolbar will show when you have new comments on things you wrote, or replies to comments.

For now, we just want to see that it works.

I wish you the very best for this venture, Hank.

Not only is it a fun place for like-minded people, but I imagine that it could actually save lives.

Thanks, I hope everyone gets some value out of it. I think the insights and stories people have are diverse - sometimes quirky or funny, sometimes poignant - but always interesting. So hopefully others will also.
